Beautiful and Dark in all the right places.
This is definitely an album worth checking out. The Incredibly talented Sucioperro have done it again, this time returning to their dark and heavy hitting sound first experienced on 2nd album Pain Agency but still also featuring the beautiful melodies and clean guitars from previous album The Heart String & How to pull it.
As im writing this, track ‘Where At Dat Wild At’ came on. Quite strange at first but fits in perfectly with the album showing Sucioperros fun funky side (possibly winking at side project band Marmaduke duke) And now ‘Glass Castle’ comes in with a mixture of beautiful guitar riffs, keys and JP’s ever so soothing voice surrounded by unsettling heavy guitars leaving the listener unable to process what is happening before the song jumping to a new sound. Album titled song ‘Fused’ allows the world to know that Sucioperro mean business, they can create a fucking awesome song that much like the album as a whole and Sucioperro as a band, make the listener headbang as the world shakes and crumbles all around and then sway as the world then settles revealing nothing but beauty.
It has now just ended with the incredibly short but stunningly beautiful ‘you should get some sleep’ which holds true to me at im sitting writing this at 12:40am.
This album is special. Possibly there best one yet, well, up with first album ‘Random Acts of Intimacy’ that i still think is a very important album for the genre of prog/indie/experimental rock.
Im looking forward to owning the physical CD and flicking through the booklet as I listen to the album all the way through in one sitting again.
I want more.
But I guess for now I shall have put it on Repeat. Add it to my iPhone. Wear my Sucioperro T shirt and wait patiently till their gig in Norwich this October where I’ll have the pleasure of seeing them for the 3rd time.
In the words of Sucioperro.
You should get some sleep.
